Corporate Lobbies — the first thirty seconds a visitor has of your company
Most lobbies have replaced the receptionist with a tablet on a stand, and the visitor stands in front of it feeling like a delivery. MijA meets them the way a person would, works out who they are here to see, tells them which floor and lets the host know they have arrived. The building still feels staffed.
What goes wrong on this floor
- A visitor arrives ten minutes early and stands in an empty lobby with a sign-in tablet and no way to ask a question.
- The host does not know their guest has arrived until the guest texts them, which is a poor first impression for a meeting you wanted to go well.
- An overseas visitor cannot read the directory board and there is nobody in the lobby to ask.
How MijA actually responds
Why this industry needs on-premise
To be clear about the boundary: MijA is not part of your access control. She does not open doors, does not check credentials and does not verify who anybody is. Under the EU AI Act, the moment an AI system is used to identify people for entry it lands in the high-risk regime with everything that follows. MijA welcomes and directs. The badge reader stays exactly where it was, doing exactly what it did.
What a lobby does hold is a running list of who visited your company and who they met, which is commercially sensitive before it is anything else. A cloud visitor management system holds that list on somebody else's infrastructure. MijA runs on a machine in your building, so the visitor log never becomes a vendor's asset, and there is no cross-border transfer for your privacy team to paper over. From 2 August 2026 she also tells every visitor she is an AI, which is what Article 50 requires.
How it is deployed
One MijA unit in the lobby facing the entrance, connected to your room booking or visitor notification system over the local network only. Multi-tenant buildings run one unit per lobby with a shared directory. Installation is typically half a day, and the existing sign-in process can stay in place unchanged.
